Itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, the Monviso Trek team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After a short rest, you’ll meet your trekking guide for a briefing about the adventure ahead. If time permits, explore the vibrant streets of Thamel or visit some of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Early morning, we embark on a picturesque drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang National Park. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours, passing through terraced hillsides, charming villages, and dense forests. The drive offers breathtaking views of Ganesh Himal and other peaks. After reaching Syabrubesi, we rest and prepare for the trek.

The trek begins with a gradual ascent along the Langtang Khola, crossing suspension bridges and passing through dense oak and rhododendron forests. The trail leads us through settlements like Bamboo, where we might spot red pandas and langurs. After a steady climb, we reach Lama Hotel, a peaceful resting point surrounded by forested slopes.

As we ascend higher, the forest gives way to wide meadows and scattered Tamang villages. The Langtang Valley gradually opens up, offering incredible views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m). We pass through Ghodatabela before reaching Langtang Village, a traditional settlement with stone-built houses and welcoming locals.

A short yet mesmerizing trek takes us to Kyanjin Gompa, the cultural and spiritual center of Langtang. Along the way, we see stunning landscapes, grazing yaks, and ancient Buddhist chortens. Kyanjin Gompa offers breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding glaciers. After lunch, we explore the monastery and local cheese factory.

To adapt to the altitude, we hike to either Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri, both offering panoramic Himalayan views. This challenging climb rewards trekkers with breathtaking vistas of the Langtang range, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma (Tibet’s highest peak). After the hike, we descend to Kyanjin Gompa for a well-deserved rest.

We begin our descent along the same route, enjoying different perspectives of the valley. Passing through Langtang Village and Ghodatabela, we continue downhill to Lama Hotel, where we rest after a long day’s walk.

Leaving Lama Hotel, we take a different trail toward Thulo Syabru, a beautiful Tamang village. This route offers an excellent opportunity to interact with locals and experience their rich traditions. The village is famous for its well-preserved culture and stunning mountain views.

Today’s trek is more challenging as we ascend toward Lauribina. The trail takes us through rhododendron forests and offers spectacular views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and even the Annapurna range on a clear day. Lauribina is a perfect place to witness a mesmerizing sunset over the Himalayas.

A short yet steep climb brings us to Gosaikunda, one of Nepal’s most sacred pilgrimage sites. This alpine lake, surrounded by rugged peaks, is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. The turquoise waters, serene atmosphere, and spiritual significance make Gosaikunda a true highlight of the trek.

We begin the day with a challenging ascent to Lauribina Pass (4,610m), the highest point of our trek. The pass offers incredible views of the Himalayas before we descend through remote landscapes and dense forests toward Ghopte. This section of the trek is less traveled, offering a true wilderness experience.

We continue our descent, entering the culturally rich Helambu region. Passing through pine forests and Sherpa villages, we arrive at Melamchi Gaon, a picturesque settlement known for its Buddhist monasteries and traditional houses.

A relatively easy trek brings us to Tarkeghyang, one of the most significant Sherpa villages in Helambu. The village is famous for its ancient monasteries, friendly locals, and unique wooden houses. We take time to explore and learn about the Sherpa way of life.

This scenic trek takes us through dense forests and terraced fields, with stunning views of Jugal Himal. Sermathang is another beautiful Sherpa village, where we can interact with locals and visit Buddhist monasteries.

Our final day of trekking takes us downhill to Melamchi Bazaar, where we celebrate our successful journey with our Monviso Trek team. From here, we drive back to Kathmandu, enjoying the beautiful landscapes along the way.

After a memorable adventure, the Monviso Trek team will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey. You leave Nepal with unforgettable memories of the Langtang Helambu Trek, enriched by its stunning landscapes, warm hospitality, and cultural experiences.
