Overview

Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. It stands at 6,189 meters and offers an exciting climbing experience for both beginners and experienced climbers. The journey to the summit includes breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. The climb is physically demanding but does not require advanced technical skills, making it a great choice for adventure seekers.

Monviso Trek organizes Island Peak climbing trips with expert guides and well-planned itineraries. The journey begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through the beautiful Khumbu Valley. Trekkers pass through famous villages like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche before reaching Island Peak Base Camp. Along the way, they experience the unique culture of the Sherpa people and enjoy stunning Himalayan landscapes.

The climb itself includes crossing glaciers, using ropes, and ascending steep sections with the help of fixed lines. Safety is the top priority for Monviso Trek, and they ensure climbers are well-equipped and guided by experienced professionals. Proper acclimatization and training sessions at base camp help climbers gain confidence before the final push to the summit. The breathtaking sunrise view from the top makes all the effort worthwhile.

Island Peak climbing is a great opportunity to experience high-altitude mountaineering in Nepal. It is often combined with an Everest Base Camp trek for added adventure. Climbers should be physically fit and prepared for cold temperatures and challenging terrain. With the right preparation and support, reaching the summit is an unforgettable achievement.

For those looking to take on this exciting adventure, Monviso Trek provides excellent logistics, experienced guides, and full support throughout the journey. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced climber, their team ensures a safe and successful climb. If you dream of standing on top of a Himalayan peak, Island Peak is a perfect choice!

Itinerary

You will arrive in Kathmandu, where a representative from Monviso Trek will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. You can rest or explore the city. In the evening, we will have a briefing about the trip.

Early in the morning, we take a scenic flight to Lukla. After landing, we start our trek to Phakding, a small village by the Dudh Koshi River. The walk is easy and takes about 3–4 hours.

We follow the trail through pine forests and cross several suspension bridges. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, we climb up to Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub of the Khumbu region.

Today, we rest in Namche to adjust to the high altitude. We can hike to the Everest View Hotel for stunning mountain views. You can also explore Namche’s markets and visit the Sherpa Museum.

We continue our trek with amazing views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The trail descends to the river and then climbs up to Tengboche, where we visit the famous Tengboche Monastery.

We pass through forests and small villages before reaching Dingboche, a beautiful village surrounded by mountains. The higher altitude makes the air thinner, so we take it slow.

We take another rest day to adapt to the altitude. A short hike to Nangkartshang Peak offers breathtaking views of Island Peak, Makalu, and other peaks.

A short trek today leads us to Chhukung, the last village before Island Peak. We prepare for our climb and check our climbing gear.

We trek to the base camp of Island Peak, walking on rocky terrain. After reaching the base camp, we set up tents and prepare for the summit push.

We start climbing early in the morning with headlamps. The climb includes rocky trails, glaciers, and a steep final ascent. From the summit, we enjoy breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, and other peaks. After celebrating, we descend back to base camp.

After a successful summit, we trek down to Pangboche, passing through Chhukung and Dingboche. It’s an easier walk as we lose altitude.

We continue our descent, retracing our steps through forests and villages. After a long walk, we reach Namche Bazaar.

The final day of trekking takes us back to Lukla. We celebrate the success of our climb with the team in the evening.

We take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. You can relax or explore the city.

Our adventure with Monviso Trek ends. We drop you at the airport for your flight back home with unforgettable memories.
