Overview

The normal route to climb mount Ama Dablam is from its South- West ridge. Most of the mountaineering beginners start their climbing through this Mount. Ama Dablam 6812m. Ama Dablam is a small snowcapped peak of 6812m lying in the Everest region. This South – West ridge is the normal and most popular route to ascend the Mt. Ama Dablam. This mountain is considered to be the most technical & difficult to climb, to cross its L tower and musoom tower on the climbing route. The mountaineers have to cross-difficult ice rocks and steep snow climbing one their climbing route. Mountaineers usually have to pitch 3 high camps on the mountain of mount Ama Dablam 6812m.

Itinerary

Your exciting adventure to Ama Dablam (6,812m) begins with your arrival in Kathmandu. A representative from Monviso Trek will be at Tribhuvan International Airport to greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Once you have settled in, you can explore the lively streets of Thamel, filled with trekking shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. Later in the evening, Monviso Trek will organize a detailed briefing session, where you will meet your expedition team, including guides and climbing experts. You will also go through a gear check and final preparations to ensure that you have everything needed for this challenging climb.

Today, you will attend an official expedition briefing at the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), where climbing permits will be finalized. After that, you will have time to do any last-minute shopping for climbing gear and personal items. Monviso Trek will ensure that you are fully prepared for the expedition by helping you check your mountaineering equipment, oxygen cylinders (if needed), and high-altitude clothing. In the evening, you can enjoy a relaxing dinner while preparing for the next day’s flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region.

Early in the morning, you will take a thrilling 35-minute flight to Lukla, one of the most famous mountain airports in the world. The flight offers breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas, including Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Upon arrival in Lukla, you will meet the local support team and begin your trek. The trail descends gradually through rhododendron forests and suspension bridges, following the Dudh Koshi River. After a 3 to 4-hour walk, you will reach Phakding, a charming Sherpa village where Monviso Trek will arrange a cozy teahouse stay for the night.

After breakfast, you will continue trekking towards Namche Bazaar, the largest and most vibrant Sherpa town in the Everest region. The trail crosses several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, and gradually ascends through pine forests and small villages. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, you will start seeing distant views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. The final stretch is a steep climb, but as you reach Namche Bazaar, you will be rewarded with incredible mountain views. Monviso Trek will arrange a comfortable lodge, where you can rest and explore this lively mountain town.

Since proper acclimatization is crucial for high-altitude climbs, you will spend the day in Namche Bazaar to adapt to the altitude. You can take a short hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880m), where you will get panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You can also visit the Sherpa Museum and explore the bustling market, where climbers and trekkers from around the world gather. Monviso Trek will ensure you stay well-hydrated and rested to prepare for the upcoming journey.

Leaving Namche, the trail follows a scenic ridge with breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and Thamserku. You will pass through the famous Tengboche Monastery (3,867m), the largest Buddhist monastery in the Everest region. Here, you can witness monks chanting prayers in a peaceful setting surrounded by snow-capped peaks. After visiting the monastery, you will descend slightly to Deboche, a quiet village with fewer crowds. Monviso Trek will arrange a comfortable lodge where you can relax and enjoy the mountain scenery.

Today’s trek is short but essential for gradual acclimatization. The trail follows a gentle ascent through forests and Mani walls, leading to Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa villages in the region. Here, you will visit the historic Pangboche Monastery, which is believed to be over 300 years old. From Pangboche, the view of Ama Dablam becomes even more stunning. Monviso Trek will arrange your accommodation in a cozy teahouse, where you can interact with local Sherpas and learn more about their culture.

Today, you will leave the main Everest trail and head towards Ama Dablam Base Camp. The trail is challenging as it climbs steadily over rocky terrain, but the reward is the breathtaking view of Ama Dablam towering above you. As you reach Base Camp, you will be welcomed by the Monviso Trek expedition team, who will set up a well-equipped campsite with tents, food supplies, and essential climbing gear. You will spend the next several days here, preparing for the summit.

Over the next two weeks, you will follow a strategic acclimatization and climbing schedule, gradually progressing from Base Camp to Camp 1 (5,700m), Camp 2 (5,900m), and finally Camp 3 (6,300m). The route includes technical rock and ice climbing, requiring fixed ropes, ladders, and careful navigation. Your Monviso Trek climbing guides will ensure your safety, assisting you in every step of the way. Finally, on a clear summit day, you will push for the Ama Dablam summit (6,812m), where you will be rewarded with unmatched views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and the entire Khumbu Valley.

Today is your final day of trekking as you return to Lukla, where the journey began. The path is mostly downhill, passing through forests, rivers, and suspension bridges. In the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner arranged by Monviso Trek, marking the end of your trekking adventure.

After an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, you will have the rest of the day free to relax or explore. Monviso Trek will arrange a special farewell dinner to celebrate your successful Ama Dablam Expedition.

Your incredible adventure in Nepal comes to an end. A representative from Monviso Trek will transfer you to the airport for your flight home, leaving you with unforgettable memories of your Ama Dablam climb.
