Itinerary
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by the Monviso Trek team at Tribhuvan International Airport. We will transfer you to your hotel in the bustling city. After some rest, we will have a detailed briefing about the upcoming expedition, meet our fellow climbers, and check our equipment. You can explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a famous tourist hub, and enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by Monviso Trek. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel.
Today is dedicated to finalizing our expedition gear and obtaining necessary permits. Our team at Monviso Trek will assist you in any last-minute shopping. In the afternoon, we will explore the cultural and historical wonders of Kathmandu, including Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Boudhanath Stupa. After an insightful day, we will return to the hotel for rest.
We take an early morning flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest. The 30-minute flight offers breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, we meet our local trekking crew and begin our trek towards Phakding, a small but charming village along the Dudh Koshi River. The trek is relatively short and serves as a warm-up for the journey ahead.
Today’s trek takes us through pine forests, suspension bridges, and Sherpa settlements. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, we begin our ascent towards Namche Bazaar, the commercial hub of the Everest region. This bustling town offers spectacular views of Everest and surrounding peaks. We will spend the night in a cozy lodge.
Acclimatization is crucial for a successful Everest expedition. We take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic mountain views. You can also visit the Sherpa Museum and local markets. Monviso Trek ensures that our body gradually adapts to the altitude before heading further up.
Our journey continues with mesmerizing views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks. The trail descends to the Dudh Koshi River before climbing up to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest in the region. We will visit the monastery and witness the evening prayers.
We follow the trail through rhododendron forests and cross small bridges as we ascend towards Dingboche. The landscape begins to change, with fewer trees and more rugged terrain. Dingboche is a beautiful valley with stunning views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam.
We spend another day acclimatizing by taking a short hike to Nagarjun Hill, which provides breathtaking views of Makalu, Lhotse, and other surrounding peaks. This helps our bodies adjust to the increasing altitude before moving higher.
The trek becomes more challenging as we approach higher elevations. We pass through the Thukla Pass, which has memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. After a steep climb, we reach Lobuche, where we will rest before heading to Everest Base Camp.
A big day as we finally reach Everest Base Camp! The trail follows the Khumbu Glacier and requires careful navigation. Upon arrival, we celebrate this incredible achievement. The Base Camp is home to colorful tents, climbers preparing for their summit push, and stunning glacier views. Monviso Trek ensures a comfortable stay in tents with all necessary facilities.
The next several weeks are dedicated to proper acclimatization and rotations on the mountain. We will establish several higher camps—Camp 1 (6,065m), Camp 2 (6,400m), Camp 3 (7,300m), and Camp 4 (7,950m)—before making our final summit push. Weather conditions and our physical readiness will determine the exact summit date. The final ascent involves climbing the famous Hillary Step before reaching the top of the world!
After a successful summit, we carefully descend back to Base Camp for much-needed rest and celebration. The Monviso Trek team will be there to greet us with warm drinks and congratulations.
We retrace our steps through the familiar landscapes of Lobuche, Dingboche, Tengboche, and Namche Bazaar. The descent feels easier, and we take time to enjoy the beauty of the Everest region. Upon reaching Lukla, we celebrate the completion of our expedition with a farewell dinner.
We take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. After checking into the hotel, you can relax or explore the city further. In the evening, Monviso Trek hosts a celebratory dinner to mark the successful expedition.
