The Upper Dolpo Trek is a hidden gem in the remote western region of Nepal. This trek takes you through untouched landscapes, high mountain passes, and traditional Tibetan villages. The region is famous for its rugged beauty, ancient monasteries, and the stunning Phoksundo Lake. It is a perfect adventure for those looking to experience the raw and untouched side of the Himalayas.
Organized by Monviso Trek, this journey offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich culture of the Dolpo people. The trek passes through traditional villages where locals still follow ancient Buddhist and Bon traditions. You will also get to visit Shey Gompa, one of the most important monasteries in the region. The warm hospitality of the locals makes the experience even more special.
The trek is challenging, as it takes you through high-altitude terrain, crossing passes like Kang La (5,350m) and Saldang La (5,200m). However, the breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri and Kanjirowa ranges make every step worthwhile. The landscapes change from deep forests to barren highlands, offering a truly diverse experience.
Since the region is restricted, a special permit is required to trek here. Monviso Trek takes care of all the necessary permits and logistics, ensuring a hassle-free journey. The best time to visit is during spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is clear, and the scenery is at its best.
